Skiing Arches National Park in a Snowstorm

We timed our visit to Arches National Park for the last weekend before reservations kicked in, hoping for fewer crowds. What we didn’t expect was to wake up to a full snowstorm. The park looked completely different—red rock covered in white, empty trails, and almost no one around. It felt quieter, slower, and way more remote than we expected.

With fresh snow on the ground, we decided to try cross-country skiing, which quickly turned into navigating without much of a trail at all. Landmarks looked different, paths disappeared, and it took a lot more effort than we thought to find our way around. We made it to Delicate Arch in icy conditions with hardly anyone there, which made it all worth it. Back at camp, things got a little more real when we had a power inverter issue and had to start managing energy carefully.

Enjoy some of our photos from the trip below.
