Valley of the Gods Trail: Southern Utah
Valley of the Gods is a scenic sandstone valley in southern Utah. It is about a quarter the size of Monument Valley, but it offers many of the same striking views along the route. The road through the valley is mostly smooth, with plenty of pullouts for stopping to take in the scenery. Many of the large rock formations have names, and spotting ones like "Lady In The Bathtub" and "Rooster Butte" makes the drive more fun.
The route is mostly smooth dirt with gentle elevation changes and no major obstacles. In dry conditions it suits most high clearance vehicles, and it is one of the easier and more enjoyable scenic drives in southern Utah.
Camping options are plentiful along the route. Dispersed campsites are easy to find, with excellent views and plenty of room to spread out, and each spot gives a slightly different perspective of the rock formations.
This trail is suitable for an expedition vehicle. It can be done in EarthRoamer LT models and the EarthRoamer SX. The Moki Dugway section is more difficult for an SX, so use caution there.
Valley of the Gods is an easy, scenic drive with plenty of camping, and it offers Monument Valley style scenery in a smaller valley.
